Turning twenty one can be a pivotal moment in a young adults life. If you like to drink I suppose it'd be even better. Unfortunately for me I started the party a little younger and by the time I was nineteen I'd developed an ulcer and a drinking problem. I quit that lifestyle and going to the bar was not exactly how I planned to spend my birthday.
My mother and I saw it fitting that we have a day together. She was celebrating getting me to this point as well. First, we went to Holly's. It's no coincidence that they give out a free birthday meal. We sipped long island iced teas and laughed together. The food was delicious, and the server was great.
That afternoon was the grand re-opening of the Blue Chip Casino, and we went together. It was an interesting experience walking into the casino for the first time. At first glance it was like an arcade for adults, but the prizes were much more extravagant. A live band played on the stage in the bar, and there were people squealing with delight in every direction. I sat down at a game called Sun's and Moon's, my heart raced as I pressed the button and placed my bet. Line wins five. So I really only won what I put in. Spin again, no luck. Repeat the bet, BONUS! Fifty free spins! I squeeze my fists, nails biting into my palms. OMG, OMG, I just won twenty dollars, seven more spins! Ten more dollars! Woah I'm up to fifty dollars, and three spins left! The bonus got me up to ninety dollars, and I continued to play for a bit. Once I noticed I wasn't going to bonus again I cashed out with seventy.
I had spent so much time on that machine that my mom was ready to go when I finished. We got elaborate looking brownies at the little cafe on the way out. THEY WERE AMAZING!
My twenty first birthday was pretty awesome! I didn't get super wasted, and I was up sixty five bucks!
