My first try at stand-up was in Michigan City, Indiana at Lakeshore Lanes. It mainly circulated around my music. After I moved to Florida for a short time, my mother stood by my dreams and took me to open mics as often as possible. I started creating small sets and doing shows alongside some amazing comedians. While in Gainesville I created a small comedy show "Insanely Highlarious" which performed at Jones B-Side. 1Cheesecake inspired the guests to buy more desserts! I also hosted the first ever Kazidelicious Show at 1982 bar! I even gave out personalized hand painted zombie dolls! |
In 2012 I was going through some rough stuff. My life completely turned upside down, and that caused me to try new things. Stand-up comedy was always something I wanted to do, and my friends and family encouraged me to pursue this dream. I joined an improv troupe that was then named the MAAD troupe (Much Ado About Doris). My specialty game was Kick It, an improv game where you are in a scene and your partner yells "Kick It!" and you have to start rapping about what you were talking about. It's pretty much the way I live my life anyway. Doing bothstand-up and improv acting helped me gain comfort on stage, and become more comfortable showing the audience my vulnerable side. Not every performance was gold, but every single one taught me something new! |
